Navigating Culture With Our Faith Intact, Keeping faith in the river of college culture

This message is a field map of how wisdom and faith in the midst of the river of our culture is important. You need a compass, Christ.

Some key verses in this sermon are Proverbs 4:5-7 (do not forsake wisdom or His words). John 14:6 (Jesus is “the way and the truth and the life”), and John 8:32 (know the truth and it will set you free).

Some extricate themselves from culture; some exorcise from it; we need to exercise our faith in the midst of culture.

What is our culture’s definition of truth? It is whatever you sincerely believe, accept, or whatever works. Don’t base your life on the world’s truth, but on The Truth, Christ.

"Are Jesus' Biographies Trustworthy? - Testing Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John"

This message asks, how do we know the biographies in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are accurate? These are eye witness accounts of Jesus’ life. Without the biographies of Jesus there is no death and resurrection recorded in The Bible.

There are 5 tests that are used to test eyewitness accounts in the court of law that can be used to judge the accuracy of the four books mentioned above.

1. The Timeline Test
Were they recorded in a timely manner to ensure reliability?
2. The Intention Test
Is the eyewitness’ purpose to tell the truth or spread philosophy?
3. The Corroboration Test
Does the eyewitness’ evidence match the known fact?
4. The Cover-Up Test
Is there something the eyewitness is trying to cover up?
5. The Consistency Test
Do these eyewitnesses have irreconcilable differences?

Main point: the biography books do past the accuracy test. Discover how by listening here.

5 Components to a winning race plan:

  1. Dream
  2. Discipline
  3. Desire
  4. Determination
  5. Dedication
Main Point: Decision managing greater than decision making!
